Hi there, if you are reading this then you have probably contracted this pernicious software or know of someone who has.
When first seen it is enough to frighten six bells out of anybody as it prevents you from accessing the web and programmes which could help you remove it.
Firstly don't panic that is what the designers of this nasty piece of work want you to do!
They are hoping that you will damage your computer trying to get rid of it.
I had a quick look round the web on my other pc and had a look at the suggested remedies all of which were either too complicated for the layman or involved buying virus control programmes - I think there is a conclusion to be drawn from this.
(This programmes works by disabling your anti virus programme to make you think that your anti virus programme is not any good and you will purchase their programme - whatever you do - do not be tempted to do this you will end up in a real heap of trouble - and your anti virus programme is fine, it is the turning off of your virus programme which makes this malware so effective together with the use of flashing bars and nasty fictional warning messages.)
Ok folks this is how I dealt with the problem.
step 1.
Acquired the registration key numbers for the product (this was the longest bit) but you won't need to do that, here are the key numbers.
enter 1145-17884799-7733 (for older versions eg. 2011)
as a license Key number and 21197673. (I did not need to use this second number)
or
enter 1147-175591-6550. (this is the key I used for 2012).
This will then release some but not all of the hold that the programme has on your system, but it will give you full access to the web and your firewall will be turned on.
Step 2.
Go to System Restore on your pc. and choose a restore point before you received the malware. I used the previous day.
(start/programes/accessories/system tools/system restore)
After the machine has finished the reboot which follows when System Restore has finished restoring your system.
Do not be tempted to use your anti-virus programme until after you have done the system restore. The XP Security 2011/2012 makes changes on your system which must be removed first, the system restore will do this for you.
Step 3.
Run your anti-virus programme on the deep scan and it will pick up the virus files for you. Do this before you do anything else!
I then used my registry cleaning programme and followed that with a full clean up programme
And that folks was it.
I appreciate that this may not work for everyone but it is well worth a try before you either try to mess with the registry files as suggested by many people who have a solution for this problem on the web - or forking out money for anti-virus programmes as you may already be using a perfectly good anti-virus programme.
The malicious software disables it immediately it arrives on your system and makes your anti virus programme appear to be in-adequate.
If you are at all concerned that your virus programme may not have found all the files it would be a good idea to contact them and ask them if their programme is configured to pick up these files. The reputable ones are.
It might be worth copying this page and storing it in your files and then you will have access to it if you are unlucky enough to contract this pernicious software. It will save you having to find another computer to hunt for a solution.
