Murray Tinkelman attended the Cooper Union in New York and veceived the Max Beckmann Scholarship award at the Brooklyn Museum Art School. He has taught at Manhattanville College and Parsons School of Design, where he was chairman of the illustration department. Tinkleman has recieved many awards for his works, including the Artist of the Year (1970), gold medals from the Society of Illustrators and Art Directors Club, as well painting prizes from the Brooklyn Museum and New York City Center. His work has been exhibited in many museums including the Denver Art Museum; New York City Center, Brooklyn Museum and the U.S. Department of the Interior.
